Jazz legend and Buffalo native Bobby Previte returns home, leading a stellar cast of Buffalo musicians through a fresh, contemporary, reimagined take on Miles Davis’ legendary, game-changing 1970 album, Bitches Brew. Composer and performer Previte “…has lead a plethora of diverse ensembles from his instrument, the drums, and has collaborated with…master composer John Adams, iconic singer Tom Waits, pantheon filmmaker Robert Altman, and most recently, rock legend Iggy Pop.” The band joining Previte includes:
Nelson Rivera – sax
Harry Graser – keys
Jared Tinkham – guitar
Griff Kazmierczak – violin
Joe Goehle – bass
John Bacon – percussion

Classic Vinyl Live with Jeff Miers: “Dead Set”
Classic Vinyl Live! with Jeff Miers is a new monthly series at Sportsmen’s. Kicking it off is a discussion and performance of the classic album, Grateful Dead’s “Dead Set.” The band this month will be Dave Ruch, Corey Kertzie and Joe Bellanti of Organ Fairchild, with Aaron Ziolkowski (guitar/vocals) and Jeff Miers (bass). Pre-performance conversation and Q&A will be with the one and only Dave Ruch and special guest Jennifer Brazill.

Buffalo Rush fans, unite!
The Rush 716 event will feature a master class with music journalist/musician/Rush maniac Jeff Miers and Rush historian, archivist and author Ray Wawrzyniak, in a discussion of the pivotal period in Rush history represented by the albums Permanent Waves(1980), Moving Pictures (1981), and Signals (1982). Following the master class, Rush tribute band Bravado (Jeff Miers, Ryan Nogle, Lucy Bell, Erin Ward, Nate Kalnitz, Mark Marinaccio) will perform a set composed of songs from Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures and Signals.
Attendees will have the opportunity to register to win a variety of Rush merch (including deluxe box sets), enjoy Rush Golden Ale, view a Rush slideshow, and participate in a Rush trivia contest. A veritable paradise for Rush nerds in the 716!
A portion of proceeds will benefit Grapes for Humanity.
